PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
Oklahoma-born, Brooklyn-based, thirty-something, singer-songwriter and cellist, Gabriel Royal plays his ‘grown up lullabies’ in the subway stations of New York City. That’s where he found his lawyer, his manager, his cello and where he continues to find a genuine connection with his inspiration: the commuters of New York.

Influenced by Stevie Wonder’s groove and Burt Bacharach’s jazzy yet poppy sensitivities, along with other contemporary artists such as John Legend, Hiatus Coyote, Flying Lotus, James Blake, Janelle Monae and Thundercat, Gabriel’s trademark sound is all his own. Royal released his self-titled album in 2016 – along with his single and music video for “Say It’s Right,” directed by Blake Farber, who has worked with Beyoncé and other A-list artists. With his new-found popularity, Royal is now popping up at prestigious music festivals and performing art centers around the country.

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
Grammy®-nominated artists Alfredo Rodríguez and Pedrito Martinez first worked together on Alfredo’s 2012 release The Invasion Parade. Since that initial recording session they have had the rare occasion to perform together as a duo, leaving audiences completely mesmerized by their fearless and virtuosic playing.

Each artist brings a different approach to the collaboration. A protégé of Quincy Jones, who took him under his wing when he defected to the US in 2009, pianist Rodríguez was schooled in the rigorous classical conservatories of Havana. His riveting artistry is informed as much by Bach and Stravinsky as it is by his Afro Cuban and jazz roots. Percussionist and vocalist Martinez’s musical training came directly from the streets of the Cayo Hueso neighborhood of Old Havana in which he was raised and he has subsequently performed with artists such as Sting, Paul Simon, and Wynton Marsalis. Together, these two master musicians take listeners on a unique and exciting journey.

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
Singer-songwriter Carrie Newcomer invites listeners to “pause the perpetual motion” of their lives with her elegantly layered, engaging and often contemplative songs. Described as a “soaring songstress” by Billboard, Newcomer’s spiritually progressive music is grounded in earthy truths. Newcomer has been dubbed “A poet, storyteller, snake-charmer, good neighbor, friend and lover, minister of the wide-eyed gospel of hope and grace” by author Barbara Kingsolver, and was listed as one of “The 50 most influential folk musicians of the past 50 years” by Chicago’s WFMT.

Over the Rhine, comprised of husband-wife songwriters Linford Detweiler and Karin Bergquist, have been performing an honest yet hopeful brand of songwriting since forming in Cincinnati in 1989. Ethereal and earthy at once, their arrangements and lyrics are subtly satisfying. Paste Magazine has praised their music as “lovely, heartbreaking, and ultimately uplifting.” The duo has shared the stage with Bob Dylan, John Prine, Adrian Belew, Squeeze, Ani DiFranco, My Morning Jacket, Hem, and toured as “adjunct” members of Cowboy Junkies.
